Breakfast Blend, Organic Order number of pounds. Full City+ Roast, just a little darker- but not much. Still closer to a medium. The smooth fullness of an Island coffee blended with the snappy acidity and richness of Central and South American meld together to create a cup that will wake you up and keep you moving all morning! This Blend changes somewhat during the year, keeping the basic character of the blend but due to crop cycles and certain coffees not coming in as flavorful year to year, I choose to blend loosely with the best coffees I can find, not sticking to an absolute recipe. So it will change some during the year, but it always carries bass notes of chocolate with medium acidity and some background hints of fruit.

Excellent, rich, clean, complex Sumatra. The flavor mixes the sweet hints of fruit, lots of mid-range honey, graham, toffee, butterscotch, along with the dark chocolate bass. Finish is long, rich and lingering sweet and mid-range notes, bordered by the dark chocolate. ____________________________________________________________Permata Gayo Coffee Cooperative started with 50 members in 2005 after many people in the region returned to their land after years of civil war. During the civil war families were forced to flee, farms and houses were burned and innocent bystanders were killed. The war only ended after the tragic tsunami of 2004 where entire villages of people disappeared along the coast of Sumatra and the lives of over 130,000 Indonesians were lost. After the implications of the tsunami, the Indonesian Government and Acehnese rebels agreed to disagree and laid down their arms. Families returned to their destroyed properties as peace spread across their land. Permata Gayo’s founding members started the co-op in hopes of banding together to apply for assistance from the government and NGO’s. The forms were filled out and filed, time went by but in their specific case help never came. The farmers decided they could move towards prosperity faster on their own and started working towards Organic and Fair Trade certification. In 2007 they earned Organic Certification and in 2008 their coffee became Fair Trade Certified. As a testament to Permata Gayo’s interpersonal relationships they now have 394 members with 567 more waiting in the wings for their Fair Trade and Organic certifications.

Brazil Single-Origin Fair Trade Coffee (1 lb.) Order number of packages. Associação dos Pequenos Produtores de Poço Fundo (Poço Fundo) is an association of small-scale farmers located in the state of Minas Gerais in southeastern Brazil. Poço Fundo was formed from a collective desire to improve the living standard of farmers and to reduce poverty and emigration.
In 1991, 76 families united to form the association intent on increasing the productivity of their small plots and sustaining the quality of family-oriented agriculture in the region. Poço Fundo became Fair Trade Certified by Fairtrade Labeling Organizations International (FLO) in 1998. The co-op began exporting to the United States in 2003.
Poço Fundo has a somewhat bright and lively flavor, a medium body, and subtle toasty and spicy notes are the primary characteristics of this coffee. It is a sun-dried blend of bourbon and catuai beans, and is among the highest grown of all Brazilian coffees.
