About Us
I am a fourth generation Oklahoman. All of my great grandparents came here before statehood, two of them drew land in the last land lottery in the state down in Tillman County. I have the wagon bows from the wagon that brought the Waldrops from Sherman, Texas to Oklahoma's "Big Pasture" in 1903, on the wall of my living room. All of them were farmers, as were my grandparents and parents.

I wear three hats in my life: director of music at Epiphany Church, president of the Oklahoma Food Cooperative, and founder of the Oscar Romero Catholic Worker House.

I also hold a certificate in permaculture design from Barking Frogs Permaculture in Florida. For the past 3 years, I have been a discussion leader in Barking Frogs Permaculture's Online Permaculture Design course. I am presently offering copies of the permaculture design for my home for sale through the coop. While site specific to my central Oklahoma City location, readers can learn a lot about permaculture design and get ideas to incorporate in their own homes. In February, I am starting an 8 week online course in Kitchen Permaculture. The course content examines all aspects of a household's food systems, and the students will be guided through the process of evaluating their own situation, determining their goals for the future, and then designing a path from their present "here" to their desired "there", In the process, the students will learn the basics of permaculture design principles. The course will operated through a private listserv and each student will receive a Kitchen Permaculture CD which will have texts and information for each week of the course. Assignments will contribute to the process of learning permaculture and kitchen design.

Students who complete the course and its requirements will receive a Certificate in Kitchen Permaculture from Prairie Rose Permaculture. Students pay the full tuition and can participate in the class discussions. It is also possible to monitor the course,. Monitors receive a copy of the Course CD and can read the discussion, but are not allowed to participate/ask questions in the course. There is a reduced fee for this option.

Later this year, online courses will be offered on Energy, Shelter, and Growing.

I occasionally sell perennial food-producing plants transplanted from my Oklahoma City yard, which has been maintained for 10 years without any use of pestgicides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers.
