About Us
We're the Inselman Family: David, Marilyn and Meredith. Our "farm" consists of three and a half acres on the East edge of Ponca City, in North Central Oklahoma. We have a "home built" greenhouse that is 50' x 66' which houses an Aquaponic operation and the hydroponic peppers. A 60' x 96' commercial greenhouse designed specifically for hydroponic tomatoes has recently been built and now holds 1000 tomato plants that are loaded with tomatoes.

Practices (our standards for raising or making our products)
We use IPM (Integrated Pest Management) techniques on our crops to control insect pests. No herbicides, pesticides or fungicides.

The aquaponic system consists of 1000 Gal. tanks, in which I raise fish (currently Koi) and grow beds that are filled with pea gravel. Water from the fish tanks is pumped to the grow beds and the pea gravel is home to a bacteria that breaks the fish waste down into nitrates. Nitrates are fertilizer and this is all the nutrients the plants in the grow beds receive. The gravel, bacteria and plants are a biofilter that cleans and clarifies the water as it moves through the beds. The clean water is returned to the fish tank and the process begins again. Although the Government won't certify this as organic, you really can't get much more organic. Should you treat the fish with any medicine, it would kill the bacteria. If the plants are sprayed with chemicals, the fish will die. Therefore the system has to be balanced, and when it is, it pretty much takes care of itself. Plants thrive in this nutrient rich environment and we currently grow an assortment of herbs in the beds.

TOMATOES THAT TASTE LIKE TOMATOES!
Meaty, thin skinned, flavorful and with an excellent shelf life (for a longer shelf life, don't refrigerate tomatoes). Because they come to you fresh from the greenhouse, the tomatoes should retain taste and flavor and freshness for up to 2 weeks. We pick our tomatoes when they are just about ripe, so they have an opportunity to develop their full flavor, but not so ripe that you'd have to eat them by sundown before they spoil. Because tomatoes continue to ripen, we'll pack them in varying degrees of ripeness. Don't forget Fried Green Tomatoes!

Additional Information
Evolving from a simple "honor system" roadside tomato stand, we now have a small "honor system" market that is filled with "made in Oklahoma" products from all over the state. These include our own product line: Trader Daves' Gourmet Treats. You may view all of the products at www.kygarmarket.com. It goes without saying (but I'll say it anyway), should you ever receive a product from us that you're not happy with, we'll make it right by replacement or refund.

Consider a road trip to Ponca City .It's a really neat place to visit, and while you're here, come by our place, we'll be happy to give you a tour.
