Vegetables, Farm Fresh Eggs, Herbs, and Fishing Flies About Us Jericho Farms is a family owned farm located on ten acres in Liberty Mounds, worked by myself, my wife, and two sons. We started out with 45 Production Red laying hens. We never feed our chickens steroids, or antibiotics. The chicken house is open so that when they are done with the task of laying eggs they can go outside and eat bugs and worms, run around and be happy chickens. We started our garden in the spring of 2005. We planted potatoes, squash, beets, okra, carrots, and a few tomatoes. We tried eggplant and lettuce, but they didn't do very good. The spring of 2007 we added a variety of peppers, carrots, potatoes, corn, cherry tomatoes, beets, okra, radishes, turnips. We attended work shops presented by Calvin Bey and learned about sustainable agriculture and organic practices. Over the years we have expanded our single garden into three areas that total about an acre. We routinely have our soil tested and add minerals to the soil that plants need to grow well. We never use pesticides or commercial fertilizers. The hail storm in the Spring of 2008 almost destroyed our gardens but, thanks to God, we recovered, and our BRIX readings on onions, beets and corn were off the scale. Our goal as growers is to have the most nutritious foods possible. Browse through our Products for Sale Practices (our standards for raising or making our products) Our goals are to develop the most nutritious and beneficial vegetables by the use of sustainable agriculture and to obtain the highest BRIX readings for all of our vegetables. We never use commercial fertilizers or pesticides. Everything that comes out of the garden, if not used goes back in the garden through the compost pile.
