About Us
We own and operate a family farm using only organic methodologies. We call our products "Ecologically Grown". Since we are a small farm without outside labor we have chosed to not certify our farm as organic due to the extra record keeping and costs. Our focus is on raising pastured and hay fed heritage animals and heirloom fruits, vegetables, flowers and herbs. We are working towards having a stainable farm by rebuilding our highly eroded sandy soil and encouraging diversity of plants, animals and restoring wildlife habitat. We pick up leaves and grass in Woodward's alleyways and shred newspapers to use as either mulch or as feedstocks for composting. Our meat animals are raised on our farm and processed in a local farm family owned meat processing facility, Rays Meats and Processing. The sheep and pigs we raise are considered heritage species and include Finn, Lincoln, Shetland, and their crosses. We also raise Large Black Pigs. We recently acquired some nursing Belted Galloway calves and have one Jersey cow. We were assured from the producer that their parents are grass/pasture fed. This producer has agreed to let us buy all of his future nursing calves. Every effort is made to use open pollinated seeds for produce although an occasional hybrid is grown. We are also growing a few hybrids for a research project with the Kerr Center for Sustainability related to soil building. Hybrid vegetable varieties were included because of their popularity with non organic producers. The goal is to develop rapport with every grower so they may determine if our research and practices may be useful in operations too. Since our animals are heritage species or smaller than customarily found in a retail grocery store many of the cuts will also be smaller. And, because we feed pasture, hay, and our farm grown produce to our animals their meat maybe leaner than what is available in most stores. By the same token some of our heriloom produce such as garlic maybe smaller than the varieties found in retail grocery stores. They are sometimes varieties featured on Slow Food or Ark of Taste. We do our best to make purchases from other farmers in Oklahoma and our processor is a also farm family. Our Logo was designed and colored by the very talented Coop member Sarah Naylor. We love Sarah and her ability to turn our words and into the a Logo that literally dipicts nearly everything about us and our ranch/farm! There is more information on our website at www.anichinimoore.com and Local Harvest. Additional information on composting on Oklahoma maybe found at www.okcompostingcouncil.org. Other recycling information maybe located at www.okrecycling.org. We welcome visitors and love having relationships with our customers! Thank you for considering us as one of your farmers!
