The Oklahoma Food Cooperative is a member-owned cooperative business enterprise. We were the first food coop in the US to focus solely on locally grown food and hand-made food and non-food items. Register for a free account!
We only sell food and non-food products that are grown or made in Oklahoma. We have a greater selection of Oklahoma grown foods, and Oklahoma made non-food items, from more local food and non-food producers than any other grocery store anywhere in the United States. We typically we have nearly 5,000 different items available every month, from 90+ different Oklahoma producers.
How to Shop the Coop:
We open the FIRST DAY of every month, at 8 AM. We are then open 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, for your online ordering convenience.
We close at midnight on the SECOND THURSDAY.
One week later, on the THIRD THURSDAY, the farmers bring everything to town. The Coop volunteers sort the products into customer orders and send them out to our 52 pickup sites. You get your groceries the afternoon or early evening of the third Thursday, our monthly delivery day.
Ordering is always closed between the 2nd Thursday and the last day of every month!
To accomodate our producers' needs and our delivery week, we are always closed for ordering between the 2nd Thursday and the end of each month. At a regular grocery store, managers order from giant inventory systems. But we only have what our producers have grown or made for sale. So each month they need time to see what will be ready before the next delivery day, and then pick, process, pack, and transport their items to delivery day.
Shop the Coop Early, Middle, and Late!
Producers of food items don't always know what they will have available 2-3 weeks in advance of delivery day. So they often add inventory while we are open for ordering. So shop the Coop early, middle, and late and find what you need!

How to Access the Coop!
We are a cooperative business organization. That means we are owned by our customer and producer members.
If you aren't a member, you can get a one month free access shopping pass the first time you register for an account. At the end of that 30 day shopping pass, you have three options:
(1) You can pay for access, one month at a time, for $6/month.
(2) You can buy a year's shopping access, for $25 (non-refundable).
(3) You can become a member-owner of the Coop, for a one-time payment of $51.75. This gives you free shopping access for life and also entitles you to vote in our annual meetings and run for office in the Coop.
Why does shopping access cost? We do not buy wholesale and then sell retail. Our producers pay a commission for selling through the Coop, and our customers pay a commission for buying through the Coop. Shopping access and membership revenues provide important operating funds for the Coop.
At a grocery store, the farmer might get 10 cents on the food dollar. At the Oklahoma Food Cooperative, the producers receive 77.5 cents out of every food dollar.

More Ordering Details
When you order, select the pick up site where you want to get your groceries. We have 52 pickup sites around the state.
You can pay with a check or money order when you pick up your groceries or you can pay via the PayPal or Dwolla payment systems. Some of our pick up sites are set up to take credit cards.
You can order as much, or as little, as you want. You do not have to order every month.
We do NOT have a check-out page!
Because you can change your order at any time while we are open for ordering, we do not have a "check out page" like many other ecommerce site.
Therefore, our Terms of Service state that --
anything in your shopping cart, when the order closes on the 2nd Thursday of each month at midnight, will be ordered from our farmer producers on your behalf. We will deliver it according to your instructions and expect you to pay for it.
If you change your mind and don't want to buy something, that's fine, delete it from your shopping cart.
No Mystery Food!
At the Oklahoma Food Cooperative, we do not sell any mystery food. You know exactly who produced the food, where it was grown or raised, and what production practices the farmer or rancher uses. You don't just order five pounds of generic hamburger, you order it from a specific producer. Our food has a story, and you -- as a customer of locally raised foods -- are part of that story. You are a co-producer with our farmers and ranchers.
We are re-creating a local food system here in Oklahoma. We are discovering the unique and authentic regional tastes of this area. We are rejecting the idea of food as a commodity, as mere fuel, and are rediscovering the relationship of local food production to healthy local communities.
Buying food sight unseen?
Most of us are not experienced with buying our regular groceries online. Some may be hesitant to buy foods like fresh vegetables "sight unseen". This is why we have a Quality Guarantee!
When you pick up your order, if you find something that is not as described in its product description, or that is spoiled, damaged, or of obvious low quality, you are not obligated to accept and pay for that item. You may refuse it at the pick-up site and your order will be credited. The item will be returned to the producer and you will not have to pay for it. We encourage everyone to take the time to go through their order at the pick-up site and make sure that everything is there and of the quality you have a right to expect from our Coop's producers.
This is a wonderful adventure that we have called together. We have brought producers and customers into the same organization. Among our producer and customer members we find a diversity of lifestyles, beliefs, cultures and religions. Even so, we find common ground based on our mutual need for a marketplace where we can find good, healthy, and nutritious local foods. We focus on meeting local needs with local resources. We will discover new ways to participate in neighborhood and community.
A journey of one thousand miles begins with one step. Who knows where this adventure will lead us, but we will certainly get there, one step at a time. The day may yet come when a small neighborhood Oklahoma Food Cooperative pick-up site is within bicycle-riding distance of most households in the state.
Thank you again for your participation. Y'all bon apetit, you hear?
